Technical Education Minster Channi suspends absent ITI Instructor

The Technical Education & Industrial Training Minister Charanjit Singh Channi conducted surprise checking at Government Industrial Training Institute for Girls and Inder Kumar Gujral Punjab Technical University campus here today.During the surprise checking of the Industrial Training Institute the minister found that the Instructor of ITI Mohali Mr. Shamsher Singh Purkhalwi whose attendance was marked in the register, was not present in the campus. The Minister called the instructor on phone to know why he was not present despite marking his present in the register, but he failed to give a satisfactory reply. The principle of the ITI told the Minister that the absent instructor regularly goes from the campus after marking his attendance. The principle also gave a written complaint about the absent instructor. Taking serious note of this the Minister directed the concerned officials to immediately suspend the instructor. The minister has asked the officials to call an explanation from the other absent staff members, instructor Varinderpal Singh & Peon Ram Gopal.The minister also found that about 50 percent of the staff & head of the Punjab Technical University campus were absent. Regarding this he asked the Additional Chief Secretary Technical Education Mr. MP Singh to initiate action against the absent staff of the IK Gujral PTU Campus Mohali. 

Mr. Channi also visited the examination halls of the ITI, Mohali and officials checked the students in his presence. The minister said that he has directed all the officials of the Technical Education & Industrial Training Department & Board to take stringent action to curb copying in the ITI & Polytechnic exams. He said that as per this campaign he is himself visiting the examination centres. The Minister said that now is the turn of Border district ITI's & Polytechnic colleges, where surprise checking would be conducted and strict action would be taken if any irregularities or staff found absent. Mr. Channi said that in the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh the Punjab Government has started a campaign to provide quality technical education and develop the skill of the youth of the state to make them employable. He said that government has cracked the nexus of the people who were just providing degrees for just pocketing money. He further said that the present government is focusing on developing skill of the youth instead of just providing degrees.The minister said that the staff of the Government ITI's & Polytechnic colleges is being made accountable and also appealed them to focus on providing quality education. 'the performance of the staff of the technical educational institutes would be based on the admission, result and placement of students,' added Channi.
