A local militant was killed in an encounter that raged in Pehlipora Larnoo village of South Kashmir's Anantang district on Tuesday morning.Government Forces had received inputs about the presence of militants. Sources said that shortly after cordon and search operation was launched, militants moved towards forest area, however, Forces extended the cordon and established contact with them, killing a militant in the initial exchange of fire.The slain militant was identified as Furqan Ahmed Wani son of Ghulam Muhammad Wani, a resident of Wangund village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.    Jammu Kashmir Police Chief Dr SP Vaid in a tweet said that two militants were killed in the gunfight, however, a police official told CNS on condition of anonymity that they retrieved only one body from the encounter site.  Reports said that as the news about the death of militant spread in his native Khudwani area, massive clashes erupted while government forces alleged resorted to firing killing a youth.

Sources said that two youths received bullet injuries during clashes at Khudwani area, adding one of them identified as Khalid Ahmad Dar succumbed to his injuries.  According to hospital sources Khalid had bullet injury on his neck. CMO Anantnag said that they received 3 injured persons in the hospital. Two among them had bullet injuries and one had pellet injuries.  (CNS)
