Chief Secretary, B B Vyas Monday chaired a video conference with the concerned Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to review progress of implementation of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme and the Border Area Development Programme (BADP).Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Commissioner/Secretary Social Welfare Department, Director CSS/BADP and other senior officers attended the meeting. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir also participated in the meeting via video conferencing.The BBBP scheme was launched in 2015 as a comprehensive programme to address the declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and related issues of empowerment of women over a life-cycle continuum. The Scheme is under implementation in 15 districts in the state viz Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopain, Pulwama, Budgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Srinagar, Rajouri, Kathua, Samba, Jammu and Udhampur. 

The DCs, who lead and coordinate action of all departments for implementation of BBBP at the District level, were asked to submit to-date progress under the scheme to the Planning Development & Monitoring Department (PD&MD).The Chief Secretary emphasised upon DCs to finalise the Annual Action Plan to ensure time bound implementation of this flagship programme.In regard to the implementation of BADP programme the concerned DCs of eleven (11) border districts were directed to submit the ‘connectivity plan proposals of villages covering tribal population’ to the PD&MD for seeking additional financial assistance from the Union Home Ministry for funding under BADP.Chief Secretary also reviewed the preparedness of the Divisional and District Administration in view of obtaining weather conditions in Kashmir Valley and other far flung areas.  visional Commissioner, Kashmir was asked to monitor the state of preparedness and take all measures necessary to ensure that people are not put to any inconvenience.
