New Delhi , 10 Mar 2014

A court here Monday allowed a plea seeking examination of three government officials, including an employee of Delhi's Election Commission, as complainant witnesses in a case against former state chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.Metropolitan Magistrate Swati Katiyar while posting the matter for May 7 allowed the complainant's plea that he can call the government officials. The complainant had accused Kejriwal of allegedly giving "misleading information" in his affidavit filed prior to the 2013 assembly poll. All the three people to be called are record keepers. While one is working in Delhi's Election Commission, the other two are employed in Ghaziabad.

The petition was filed by NGO Maulik Bharat Trust, through its office-bearers, alleging "wilful concealment and suppression of correct address and value of the aforesaid property amounts to commission of a criminal offence under section 125A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951".The court, meanwhile, recorded the statement of complainant Neeraj Saxena as a witness in the case.Saxena, an office-bearer of the NGO from Daryaganj, Delhi, organised multiple campaigns for voter awareness and electoral reforms throughout the national capital.Earlier, the NGO had approached the Delhi High Court with a plea seeking quashing of nomination papers of Kejriwal on the ground of "illegalities" in his affidavit filed before the poll panel. The high court had refused to entertain the plea and directed the petitioners to approach a magisterial court for remedy.
