DC Srinagar reviews arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Syed Abid Rashid Shah today convened a meeting to discuss and review the arrangements being put in place for smooth celebration of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival.The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners, Joint Commissioner SMC, Deputy Director FCS&CA, SE Hydraulic, ARTO Kashmir, Joint Controller Legal Metrology, Tehsidhars, Chief Medical Officer, ASP Traffic, SP (Headquarters), Deputy Directors FCS&CA, Sheep Husbandry & Animal Husbandry Executive Engineers of PDD, PHE & R&B, ASP Traffic, SP (Headquarters), Food Safety officer, Zonal officer WAQF Board and other officials.The meeting was informed that 20 grass cutting machines have been deployed at the Eidgah Srinagar and the venue would be ready for Eid congregational prayers two days prior to the festival day A. Total of 16 big congregations on Eid-ul-Azha will be held across the district.

During the meeting the DC directed the Engineers of PDD and PHE to ensure the adequate supply of electricity and water to the habitants of the district during the Eid celebrations. PDD will illuminate all religious places on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.The DC also asked for making available mobile water tankers at congregation places as a backup to the spot water storage facilities. The Municipal authorities were directed to launch a cleanness drive at Eidgah Srinagar, Hazratbal and other big congregation places before Eid and make functional all the street lights so that people may not face any inconvenience besides to deploy mobile toilets at such places.It was said that 2500 quintals of food grains out of 2965 quintals have already been distributed to consumers of the district. Further Animal Husbandry Department has installed chicken sale centres at Umerhair, Khanyar, Harparbath, Gaw Kadal, mobile sale in downtown and upper town. 

For Dressed chicken, sale centre has been established at marketing division of Animal Husbandry, Gaw kadal Srinagar and sale for dressed chicken has been fixed as Rs 135 per Kg, the meeting was informed.Market checking squads were also directed to start intense market checking to ensure strict implementation of approved market rates of chicken, mutton, bakery and other items. The DC directed the officers to take strict action against black marketers, hoarders and erring shopkeepers as per the law. Shah directed Sheep Husbandry to install Government sheep and goat sale centres at Eidgah, Naushera, Hazratbal and other places in the district, for the convenience of people.He directed traffic police to prepare route management plan before Eid and Health Department was directed to deploy doctors, ambulances and other paramedical staff at big congregation places on the Eid day.DC directed to establish grievance redressal cell in the DC office complex for timely redressal of problems faced the people.He asked all officers that the necessary arrangements be put in place in advance so that people do not face any difficulties whatsoever during the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha.
