Chairperson Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for Women, Nayeema Ahmad Mahjoor reiterated Government's commitment to ensure women empowerment in the State, especially in rural and far-flung areas.The chairperson was on a 2-day visit to Gurez, during which she addressed a day-long awareness programme-cum-interactive session here at Government Degree College, Dawar. Hundreds of students, ASHA and Anganwari workers participated in the programme besides officers from the administration and senior citizens were also present on the occasion.Applauding the organizers for conducting such programme, Nayeema Ahmad Mahjoor stressed the need for organizing more and more awareness programmes in rural and far off areas like Gurez to sensitize women folk about their rights.She said that in remote areas women folk has less exposure, being confined to domestic work only. She said multi-pronged strategies are in place to achieve the goal of cent percent women empowerment, besides properly implement various schemes in this regard.On the occasion, various issues faced by females pertaining to social, political and economic spheres of life were threadbare discussed.
