Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, interacted with prominent citizens of Rajouri, here this evening.Drawn from different walks of life, the prominent citizens brought several issues into the notice of Deputy Commissioner, ranging from the pressing issue of drug menace in the district, traffic mismanagement erratic water and power supply.The speakers during their hours long interaction with the Deputy Commissioner, commended the steps already initiated by the district administration to check absenteeism in government offices and improving functioning of health institutions. They also assured their cooperation to the district administration in its endeavours.The Deputy Commissioner while underlining the role of civil society in ensuring a proactive and participative administration sought their cooperation in dealing with vital issues of public importance. Dr. Shahid informed the gathering that a comprehensive approach is being adopted to curb the menace of drugs in the district. While assuring strict punitive measures against drug peddlers, he said a de-addiction centre will also be established to rehabilitate the victims of this social evil.He said district administration will also launch an anti-encroachment drive and sought active cooperation and support of civil society in this regard.Ways and means for effective traffic management and to improve water and power supply in the district were among several other issues deliberated upon in details.SSP, Yugal Manhas, ADC, Mumtaz Choudhary, ACR Paramjeet Singh and DySP Traffic, Ms Shaheen also attended the meeting.
