Casual labours, need base workers protest against Govt

All Jammu and Kashmir Casual Labour's and Need Base Workers United Forum Monday staged protest against the government for failing to release their wages and non-implementation of regularization policy for them.The forum assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans like ‘we want justice’.The protesting labours and workers, working in different departments including Agriculture, Sericulture, Tourism, CPWs, PHE and horticulture here demanded implementation of regularization policy for them and release of pending wages. The spokesman of the forum told KNS that the government has failed to look into the hardships of labours. “The government has taken no steps for the fulfilment of the genuine demands of the labours and workers, who are working in the different departments,” the spokesman said.He said that the long pending demand of the labours and the workers, implementation of the regularization policy for them has not been fulfilled despite several assurances by the successive regimes. “The government must look into the demands of 61000 labours and workers so that we can feel a sigh of relief,” he demanded.Besides, the spokesman said that the authorities have failed to release the pending wages of the workers and labours working in the different departments.They appealed the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to look into the matter and fulfil their genuine demands at soon as possible.
