KTK stages protest against civilian killings

Kashmir Tehreek Khawateen (KTK) members staged a protest against civilian killings here in Srinagar on Monday. The protesters also demanded immediate release of Kashmiri political prisoners languishing in jails within and outside the state.The women activists of separatist groups led by KTK Chairman Zamrooda Habib appeared at Press Enclave here and raised pro-freedom slogans. The activists carrying placards and banners denounced the unabated civilian killings, detention of youth and political prisoners and assault on students.“We are protesting to draw the attention of the international community to solve the Kashmir dispute,” Zamrooda Habib told CNS. She termed the detention of youth and political leaders including Masarat Aalam, as ‘illegal’. She appealed international community to use their good offices to pave the release of these detained political prisoners. She said that Indian Forces have been resorting to killings to crush the ongoing freedom struggle. “Killings, arrests and threats can’t break the resolve of the people,” she said. (CNS)
