Teen killed as BSF opens fire in Batamaloo

A 22-year-old youth was killed by Border Security Force (BSF)  at Batamaloo area of Srinagar city on Saturday evening.Reliable sources told news agency GNS that the youth namely Sajad Hassan sustained serious head injuries after BSF men from 38 Battalion opened fire upon a group of youth near Reck Chowk in Batmaloo this evening. Sources said that a small convoy of BSF was coming from frontier Kupwara district and they were supposed to reach Humhama.However, sources said, they lost their way and entered interiors of Batamaloo. Sources said that as the youth at Reka Chowk spotted BSF vehicle, they pelted stones on them and the BSF men opened fire, killing one identified as Sajad Hussain of Chundusa Baramulla, presently at SD colony.Although Sajad Hassan was immediately rushed to SMHS hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. A police spokesman issued a statement and said that they are investigating the matter.“Police is collecting the details and is looking into the circumstances under which a person identified as Sajad Hussain Sheikh of Chandoosa Baramulla at present S D Colony Srinagar  got killed. The District Police administration Srinagar has informed that there was no deployment in the area. The matter is being investigated,” it said.BSF Kashmir PRO meanwhile when contacted by GNS said: I am checking. Give me half an hour. I will get back to you”. (GNS)
