In connection with the Draft Saffron Rules 2017, the Financial Commissioner, Agriculture Production Department, Pramod Kumar Jain, Wednesday chaired a meeting of agriculture officers of the Kashmir division here.Besides Director Agriculture, Kashmir, Showkat Ahmed Beigh, the meeting was attended by Joint Director Extension/Mission Director National Saffron Mission, Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, and concerned Chief Agriculture Officers. A group of traders and growers were also present.The meeting discussed the Saffron rules and sought suggestions from traders and growers in the regard.Financial Commissioner said that the Government is committed to establishing a transparent system in dealing with quality-control and branding of Kashmiri Saffron so that its quality remains uncompromised. He added that there will be a legal and administrative approach for controlling its export.He also directed the concerned officers of the Department to register the land under saffron cultivation at an earliest so that illegal constructions are stopped.Director Agriculture Kashmir assured the traders and growers that their suggestions will be incorporated for the promotion of Kashmiri saffron.
