Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, convened a meeting to review the functioning of the Mechanical Engineering Department (MED), Kashmir, here today.The meeting was attended by the Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, Deputy Director Planning, Chief Engineer and other senior engineers of the MED.The Chief Engineer presented a power-point presentation about the functioning of the department.The meeting was informed that the snow-clearance operation on the Mughal Road is currently underway, where different types of snow-clearance machines, like snow cutters, snow ploughs, snowcats, are operational.It was also given out that 6303.53 km road length has been brought under the Mechanized Snow clearance operation in the valley.The Div Com directed the officials of the Department to speed up snow-clearance on the Mughal Road so that it is thrown open for traffic as an alternative highway.He directed the officials to adhere to the set timeline for completion of all the ongoing projects focusing on quality execution of works and adopting proper design methodology.He further directed that the Department must follow the procedural limitations, adding the core aim should be to develop transparent work culture.
