Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today called for early redressal of issues confronting street vendors.These directions were issued in a meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner here in which Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Director Social Welfare, Director FCS&CA, Labour Commissioner, VC SDA, Executive Director J&K Bank, Representative from SMC and members of Young Kashmir Footpath Union (YKFU) participated.During the meeting, the representatives of YKFU sought their inclusion in Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, besides provision of government sponsored welfare schemes, registration with Labour Commission, provision of loans with low interest rates and place for them at the upcoming Polo View market.On the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner assured the Union that their genuine concerns will be looked into and addressed on priority.He directed Director, FCS&CA to identify the eligible persons falling under the BPL category and furnish the report within week.He also directed the Labour Commissioner to register YKFU vendors and asked the officials of SMC to register them within fifteen days after deposition of requisite fee.For economic uplift of street vendors, he asked officers of J&K Bank to provide financial assistance under National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) scheme at 7 per cent interest rate (sponsored by UDAK agency) to the eligible vendors.The officers of Social Welfare Department were asked to distribute forms for government sponsored social welfare schemes to all vendors of YKFU so that they can avail benefits of these schemes.He also asked DC, Srinagar to include the YKFU vendors in the list of those beneficiaries offered spots at the upcoming market at Polo View Srinagar.
