Dubbing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as the B-Team of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), working to push back the minorities socially and politically, the Majlis Ahrar Islami Hind on Monday extend its support to the Congress in Punjab, saying neither Arvind Kejriwal nor the Badals could be trusted to protect the rights of the Muslims.Putting the strength of its huge minority base in Punjab behind the Punjab Congress, the Majlis said it had decided to support Captain Amarinder in his fight against the fascist forces.Majlis General Secretary Maulana Usman Rahmani Ludhianvi met Captain Amarinder to convey their decision to back the party. The Majlis, set up in 1929 and representing majority of the state’s Muslims, has urged all members of the community to vote for the Congress to promote Punjab’s development and prosperity.Ludhianvi said the Akali misrule of the past 10 years, especially the land mafia, and their complete apathy towards the minority community had prompted them to once again extend their support to the Congress, as during the previous election. The Majlis accused AAP of meting out stepmotherly treatment to the minority community in Delhi. Kejriwal’s party, it said, was working on an anti-minorities agenda, which was why it had not inducted anyone from minorities in the state level committee of its Punjab unit.
