A meeting   to discuss and review arrangements for ensuing Red Cross mela to be organized on 4th and 5th March was held here the other day.The meeting was attended by the senior officers of various departments, members of Red Cross Executive Committee and other concerned officials.The meeting discussed in detail the security arrangements, regulation of the traffic, parking space, uninterrupted supply of electricity, installation of water points and water tanks at the venue for smooth conduct of the Mela.During the meeting, concerned officers of education department were asked to ensure maximum footfall of youth of the region and instill spirit of voluntarism in Youth Red Cross volunteers besides motivating the students for participation in cultural programmes alongwith manning of stalls.Various departments including JKTDC, Horticulture, Handloom, Tourism and Industries were asked to showcase their activities /sale of products during the Mela.In order to ensure that the event encompasses the twin benefit of being informative as well as educative, Health services, NHM and RDD were also asked to ensure that they disseminate their schemes and programmes to the public visiting during the event.For timely and effective publicity of the programme the concerned departments were asked to display banners at rotaries in the city along with adequate publicity in electronic and print media.
