Naeem pays tributes to deceased leaders; Recalls their contribution towards JK’s welfare

Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar while participating in the obituary reference in the Upper House to pay tributes to deceased leaders stated that all the deceased leaders have played important role in the development of the state.Recalling the contribution of former governor Lt General (Retd) S.K Sinha, Minister said he had played an important role in the overall development of the state. He said late governor worked for the nation in different capacities and brought laurels in various fields for peace and prosperity of the nation.Paying tributes to former union Minister Mohammad Shafi Qureshi, Mr Akhtar said his role for the development of the state would be remembered for ever. He said late Qureshi played significant role as Railway Minister for expansion of Pathankot-Jammu Railway track besides expansion of Srinagar Airport.He said the late leader worked for the uplift of weaker sections and played a key role in this regard.

While recalling his association with former Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, Naeem said the late Minister was a great orator and had a good sense of humor having capability to attract more fans owing to these qualities. He said the late DY CM was the man of etiquettes having extra ordinary qualities of being more people-friendly and a social worker who even left his job to serve the people.Minister also paid rich tributes to former MLA and MP Mohammad Shafi Bhat and recalled his association with the deceased. He said late Bhat was the man of integrity and worked selflessly for the development of the society. He said the commitment and honesty of Bhat can be imagined from the fact that throughout his life, he lived in government allotted accommodation and never constructed his own house.The Minister while recalling the contribution of S Dharambir Singh Oberio, said the ailments and his old age never barred him from working for the welfare of the people. He said that the legislature raised public interest issues regularly in the house.Mr Akhtar also paid tributes to former MLC Aziz Mohammad Qari and recalled his contribution towards the welfare of state. Due to his extra extra-ordinary qualities and pro-people approach, Late Chief minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah nominated him to upper house.
