ED conducts training programme for EROs, AEROs

The Election Department(ED) Wednesday organised a day long training programme for Electoral Registration Officers (ERO) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO).Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Shantmanu was the chief guest at the workshop which among other things focused on the validation of electoral rolls and optimization of the polling station location and area in different constituencies.DEOs, EROs, AEROs, State Level Master Trainers (SLMTS) and Election Naib Tehsildars of Jammu province participated in the training.Joint Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Dr. Raman Kaiser, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu, Krishan Lal, Additional State Informatic Officer NIC J&K, Saleem Khan were also attended the programme.The training was held in three sessions based on online service voters and electronically transmitted postal ballot system, J&K electoral roll Management system, national electoral roll and purification programme (NERP) and ERO net.The aim of the training was to hold free and fair elections in the state under the new guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Shantmanu said that there was a need to speed up the activities by the entire staff of the Election Department in the state to fill up the gaps.Asserting that sufficient time is available to complete the exercise, he stressed on implementing all the components of the new guidelines in letter and spirit.The CEO further asserted  that the Election Commission of India (ECI) gives utmost importance to enrollment of all eligible citizens and to assist electors to reach and cast their votes in hassle free way. "No voter to be left behind" is the motto of ECI for the year 2016, he added.Shantmanu further told that NERP has been launched in March 2016 across the country to carry out intensive verification, to enhance the purity and fidelity of electoral rolls and standardisation of polling stations for electors convenience and facilitate their reach to polling station with ease.At the end, the CEO thanked the participants and the trainers for making the training programme successful and wished that the future programmes will also be conducted in similar manners.
