Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Social Welfare and Health & Medical Education Departments, Asiea Naqash today concluded three-day extensive tour of Pir Panchal region.During her tour to the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, the Minister convened several meetings, met delegations and visited various institutions and other places to take stock of their functioning and review the pace of development works.On the concluding day of her tour, the Minister today visited Poonch town, Nari Niketan, Sub-district Hospital Poonch and various other places to take stock of the facilities there.During her visit to the Poonch town, the Minister interacted with the locals and listened to their grievances and problems. The Minister directed concerned officials to prepare a Detailed Projects Report (DPR) of the Town to identify the problem areas and the measures to be taken to tackle the same.Asiea Naqash also visited Nari Niketan Poonch to take stock of the facilities being provided to the students there. She interacted with students and administration of “Nari Niketan” to hear their grievances and demands to improve its condition.
The Minister was informed that 55 students are being provided education and skill development training in the Nari Niketan. She was also informed that the institute is currently running in a rented building and is in need of a building of its own.The Minister directed the concerned officials to come up with a Detailed Project Report (DPR) regarding construction of a building for the Nari Nikatan.The Minister also paid visit to the Sub District Hospital Poonch and took stock of its functioning. The Minister visited IPD, OPD, X-ray Section, Blood Bank, Emergency Ward and various other wards of the Hospital.She interacted with the patients and their attendants and enquired about the facilities being provided to them by the Hospital authorities. The Minister said the government is committed to provide better healthcare facilities to the people at their doorsteps.The directed the authorities to ensure cleanliness in and around the hospital premises and treat patients with care and utmost professionalism. She also directed the concerned to ensure proper distribution of free essential drugs and other medical facilities to the patients visiting the Hospital.On seeing the rush of patients in the hospital the Minister said that the government will find way out to reduce the overload of patients in the hospital so that public will not have to face inconveniences. Later, the Minister also interacted with a delegation at Faisalabad Surankot and listened to their grievances. The delegation raised various issues and demanded up gradation of Faisalabad-Surankot connecting bridge.
On the way to Thana Mandi, the Minister paid a visit to High School Manyal on public demand where she interacted with locals, students and teachers of the school.The Minister was informed there is lack of staff, need of upgradation of infrastructure of the school and demanded removal of High Tension (HT) Transmission line nearby the school.The Minister assured that she will take-up the matter with the concerned and all the problems faced by the students or school administration will be readdress soon.The Minister also interacted with delegations from various areas at Thana Mandi and Dak Bungalow Poonch and listened to their grievances. The delegations raised issues regarding the development of the area, delay in Aadhaar card issuance and lack of implementation of welfare schemes in the area.The Minister issued on-the-spot instructions to the officers to address these issues on priority. She also directed the concerned to speed up the process of issuing Aadhaar cards to the people so that they could be linked with various schemes provided by the government. Stressing the need for active participation of local populace in the developmental process, the Minister directed the officers to take appropriate steps to associate the prominent locals, Panchayat members in the planning and developmental activities to ensure durable and purposeful assets as per the local needs.
