Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab today gave a clarion call to save the country  by ousting Congress led UPA Government as Narendra Modi can only lead the nation for its overall development.Addressing a mammoth gathering here after laying the foundation stone of Railway Over Bridge at Chandan Nagar, Mr. Badal gave a call to electorates to elect NDA Government in interest of country and its people. "There was a dire need to give the political reins into the hands of Modi by forming NDA government at Center as the Congress has been constantly looting the country and its assets for more than sixty years", he said.   To put the country on the accelerated pace of development he asked the people that to form NDA government at center as the combination of Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and Narendra Modi can take our country on new heights of progress, growth, prosperity besides massive transformation in the economics of the country. 

Talking to media persons after laying the foundation stone of state of the art housing complex in Jalandhar, Deputy Chief Minister expressed anguish over the involvement of the congress leaders in 1984 genocide killing about thousands of Sikhs all over the country. Terming the UPA led Congress government responsible for shielding the perpetrators Mr. Badal demanded harsh punishment to the guilty congressmen, especially when Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has also recently agreed that the Congress leaders were involved in 1984 annihilation. “It  is unfortunate that in spite of the fact that today a Sikh is the Prime Minister of India, he could not do anything for the family members of the 1984 riot victims,'' lamented Mr. Badal.Replying to another query on the alleged involvement of BJP leaders in the 1984 massacre, Mr. Badal said that a number of commissions and committees set up to investigate the massacre have submitted their findings but none has indicted the BJP leaders. He also said that by now not only the people of Punjab but everybody in the country was aware of the credibility of Capt. Amarinder Singh who is uttering the statements out of sheer frustration which have no base.On the issue of the ongoing Ashutosh Maharaj’s death controversy, 

Badal said that the Punjab government has been monitoring the entire situation very closely with due respect to the religious sentiments of the followers.Referring to the ongoing era of development in Punjab, Mr. Badal said that the entire development projects in Punjab would be based on Swiss challenge mode ensuring international standards and quality in the upcoming projects. He also said that within the next three years all the state highways would be 4 to 6 tracked expressways. The urban population would be provided with 100% safe drinking water besides the sewerage system. He also said that the power situation has also improved with the Punjab becoming the first Power surplus state in India and power rates also be reduced in the state.Earlier addressing the gathering at village Bir Bansian, Mr. Badal congratulated Mr. Joginder Bassi on the occasion of 31st anniversary of Gaunda Punjab Radio and Hindustan Newspaper, Toronto, Canada. He also gave a call to NRIs to make aware their next generations about rich cultural heritage of their motherland. He also called upon the NRIs to provide primary level education to their children here as international level educational and medical institutions have landed to Punjab.Reminding the anti-Sikh and anti-Punjab stance of the Congress, Mr. Badal said that it’s amazing that the Sikh leaders instead of reacting to the grave injustice being done to Punjab especially to the Sikhs these leaders are the mute spectators. He also announced a grant of Rs. 1 crore for the development of village Bir Bansian. Mr.  Balwinder Singh Bhunder, MP, Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Education Minister, Mr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, PWD Minister, Mr. Avinash Chander, CPS, Mr. Pargat Singh, MLA, Ms. Ruby Dhalla, former MP Canada and Mr. Sarbjit Makkar were also present on the occasion.

Deputy Chief Minister also laid foundation stones of two degree colleges at Tehang (Phillour) and Nakodar at the cost of Rs. 15 crore each. He also laid foundation stones that included an elevated road at Jalandhar-Kapurthala road at the cost of Rs. 55 crore, railway under bridge in Chandan Nagar at a cost of Rs. 45 crore and state of the art housing complex at jail road at the cost of Rs. 45 crore. Besides, Mr. Badal also laid foundation stones of sewage system costing Rs. 39 crore and multi-purpose stadium at the cost of Rs. 8.63 lakh at Adampur. Addressing the gatherings at Chandan Nagar and Adampur, Deputy CM said Jalandhar city would witness overall development in the next three years as the blue print has already been prepared and the work on it would start soon. He said Jalandhar city would also get five new ROBs/RUBs. Mr. Badal also announced that all major cities in the state would connected with 4/6 lane network in next 3 years for which Rs. 15,000 crore has been set aside besides 100 percent sewerage and 24X7 water supply in all 150 towns of the state out of which work has been started in 50 towns.Among others present on the occasion included K.D Bhandari Chief parliamentary secretary, Manoranjan Kalia former Minister, Mayor Jyoti Arora, Pargat Singh MLA, Gurcharn Singh Channi, Baljeet Singh Neelamahal, SGPC Members Kulwant Singh Manan and Bibi Gurdev Singh Sangha and BJP district president Subash Sood.
