Vice Chairman, State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, Daljit Singh Chib, today chaired a meeting of the Board to review the status of Paddy procurement in Jammu province.Addressing the meeting, the Vice Chairman exhorted upon the Food Corporation of India to ensure, in coordination with Agriculture Department, timely identification and establishment of procurement centers at Minimum Support Price as the paddy crop harvesting would be started soon. He said that there should not be any delay in opening of such centers and farmers should not face any inconvenience.The meeting also had detailed deliberation on several issues envisaging further streamlining of working of the Board. Besides, the issue of increase in number of paddy procurement centres in Jammu in view increases in this year’s production.Referring to demand for proper procurement of maize crop in the State on the pattern of paddy, the VC said that the possibilities are being explored to establish procurement centers in this regard.
The VC also reviewed the implementation of various schemes meant for the welfare of Kissans like Pradhaan Mantri Kissan Bima Yojana, Pradhaan Mantri Sinchaai Yojana and other related schemes.

Gupta, and Deputy Director Planning and Marketing, Amar Jeet Singh Sudan.The officers assured the Vice Chairman that no stone will be left unturned in providing help to the farming community.
