District Electoral Officer, Udhampur Niraj Kumar today reviewed the progress registered under National Electoral Rolls Purification (NERP) at meeting of concerned functionaries. During the meeting, the DEO stressed on proper working coordination between the EROs, AEROs and the BLOs for the preparation of error free electoral rolls. He added that the electoral rolls prepared by them must adhere strictly to the directives issued by the ECI.He further emphasized on all the officers to carry out their assigned duties earnestly adding that their inputs and information would serve as a key to error free compilation of electoral rolls. He asked them to physically verify the electoral rolls in the villages and booths whenever required.He also directed the officers to prepare maps of polling stations and polling booths at BLO level.
Earlier, Dy DEO Sapna Kotwal gave a detailed presentation on NERP. She informed that the main objective of NERP is to ensure an error free electoral roll by weeding out the duplicate, fake voters and the voters who have shifted to other areas from the enrollment lists. The camps in this connection would be organized soon in the district, she added. The meeting was attended by CPO Rakesh Jamwal, ACR Subhash Dogra, Dy DEO Sapna Kotwal, CEO Bishan Singh, DSWO Rachna Sharma, SDMs and Tehsildars besides other district and block level officers were present in the meeting.
