SKIMS Srinagar and Kashmir’s health department have started a big initiative for conducting cancer surgeries at district hospitals in Kashmir Valley.Top sources while disclosing this to KNS revealed that as part of the government’s initiative to conduct cancer surgeries district hospitals on weekly basis a team of doctors headed by Dr. Haji Altaf the head department of oncology SrinagarWednesday conducted five cancer surgeries at district hospital Baramulla.When contacted Dr. Haji Altaf the head department of oncology Haji Altaf said “we today conducted five cancer surgeries at district hospital Baramulla.While three patients were suffering from thyroid cancer the other two were suffering from Brest cancer. The patients belonged to Baramulla town and its adjacent areas. Director health services Kashmir Dr. Saleem-u-Rehman confirmed to KNS that five cancer surgeries were conducted in coordination with SKIMS Soura at district hospital Baramulla. The decision to initiate a programme of conducting cancer surgeries at district hospitals was taken in the year 2014”. When contacted Director SKIMS Soura Sinagar told KNS “we have started this initiative in consultation with the department of health in Kashmir as part of an initiative to conduct cancer surgeries at district hospitals on rotational basis in Kashmir valley we plan to conduct cancer surgeries at district hospital Anantnag next week”.
