Army flags of tour for Nobra elderly women

Army today said that it flagged off a national iintegration tour (NIT) for fifteen elder women of Nubra Valley to Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Rivalsar and back was flagged off today by Commander Siachen Brigade from village Sasoma. The tour is unique for the elderly ladies of Nubra Valley, who are being taken for a tour outside Leh probably the first time in their lives.Defense spokesman said that the tour is planned for 10 days from 31 Jul to 09 Aug 2016. The elderly women will visit some well known places like Rose Garden and Sukhna Lake at Chandigarh, Macleodganj, Dalai Lama Monastery and Chamunda Devi temple at Dharamshala to name a few. "This NIT is a great opportunity for these selected 15 elderly women to witness the country’s vast natural and cultural heritage and enhance their outlook about the same.During the flagging off ceremony Commander, Siachen Brigade interacted with the tour participants and their family members who were very excited and thrilled to be part of the tour. 

The participants were thankful to Army for providing such opportunities to them. They expressed their feelings saying that the tour would give and inside to the outside world, broaden their horizon and integrate them with mainstream." (KNS)
