4-day first aid training course commences at Ramban

District Development Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Aijaz today inaugurated Four Day First Medical Responder cum First Aid Training course organised by district administration with the support of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) and NHQ, New Delhi.Around 25 volunteers from different departments including RDD, Education, ICDS, besides ASHA workers are being imparted   training during the four day programme.Speaking on the occasion DDC said that the main objective of training is to enhance the capacity of Red Cross volunteers and communities to deliver emergency first aid services during road accidents, disaster and health emergencies. He said this way a cadre of certified first medical responders would be created in the district.“The participating volunteers and staff will be trained and equipped to address needs of their local communities, providing first aid and psychological support to the people” he added.The DC further informed that during the training course   resource persons will deliver detailed lectures on the topics Basic First Aid, Safe handling & transporting of the casualty, basic life support, psychological support, Triage in emergency etc.Later Subject Specialist and Deputy Medical Superintendent Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Dr. Deepak Kumar told the participants about the work & responsibilities of Red Cross volunteers towards society. He said that this programme will enhance their capacity as Medical Responders and they would be able to deliver in a better and more efficient way.The other resource persons for the training course include Chief Medical Officer, Ramban Dr Anwar Bhat, Coordinator Indian Red Cross Society Jammu, Ashok Sharma Dy. CMO, Dr. Iqbal, Executive Sectary DRCS Ramban, Raj Singh Raju.
