Election Observers appointed by the Election Commission of India, held a series of meetings with concerned sectoral and nodal officers to sensitize them about the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and the arrangements put in place by the district administration for the upcoming bye-elections of Anantnag Assembly constituency.The Observers while explaining the Model Code of Conduct and its implementation in the district asked the implementing agencies and officers to follow those procedures formulated by Election Commission of India while dealing with any issue related to the bye-election. They stressed on the officials to keep a strict vigil on the activities that take place in the territorial jurisdiction of the district ensuring compliance of Model Code of Conduct.The meeting was attended by District Election Officer, Additional District Development Commissioner, Addition Deputy Commissioner, RO, AEROs besides other Nodal Officers.
The Observers also held an interactive session with the nodal officers, who apprised them about the plans and strategies formulated for smooth conduct of the bye-election. The Observers asked the officers engaged with the bye-elections to follow the procedures and report any discrepancy well in advance into the notice of DEO or the Observers so that same can be tackled before the commencement of voting. They stressed on the officers to put their concerted efforts to conduct the bye-election in a fair and transparent manner.The District Election Officer on the occasion gave a detailed review of the plan made by the district election office and other allied departments for the upcoming bye-elections. He informed the meeting that training schedule for the concerned employees has already been formulated. He said that efficient officers of the district administration with impeccable service record have been assigned election related duty to ensure transparency.
