Deputy Chairman Legislative Council (LC) Mr. Jahangir Ahmed Mir today visited District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Poonch, where he interacted with the faculty members.The Principal Diet Mohinder Singh appraised him about the functioning of DIET and activities carried out by different aimed at improving overall educational system.Projecting the problems faced by the DIET Poonch, he underlined the need for having an auditorium and construction of boundary wall, black topping of the premises of institution etc.Speaking on the occasion, Mir emphasized upon the teacher community to adopt and teach work culture and impart moral education to the students which is eroding in the society now a days.
“Education not only shapes the personality of an individual but it can transform the destiny of the region and in this context this prestigious institution has a pivotal role to play” he said.He further said “There was a time when the teacher was considered as symbol of love, honesty and the custodian of future of students but unfortunately the situation has changed now. So the need of the hour is to introduce effective reformative and result oriented measures from this prestigious institution to leave a good impact on other educational institutions”.Later the Deputy Chairman went around the premises of the institution to assess the requirement of infrastructure development and promised that he will raise the issue in upcoming board meeting.
