State Completes 1 Million Citizen Services Under E-District Project

51 Services To Be Available On State Portal With Fully Digitized Backend In 6 Weeks

In a landmark achievement, State of Punjab today completed the online delivery of 1 million citizen services under e-District  Project, which includes the backend computerization of 42 high volume citizen services in various field offices of the State. This achievement was appreciated by the Chief Secretary Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal in a review of Department of Governance Reforms. Under e-District project, more than 1000 field offices have been equipped with computing hardware, networking, connectivity and a million odd  service requests have already been processed using digital signatures under this project.To improve the access speed of the e-District software to the field offices, the current broadband connections will be replaced with high speed lease line connections in next 10 weeks.  The necessary instructions regarding this were given to BSNL officials present in the meeting. Data entry / Backend digitization of 20 lakh historical records related to Birth/Death certificates, Agriculture licenses has already been completed. Further 10 lakhs records shall be digitized per month to complete the process as per original schedule.

Further, Chief Secretary reviewed the simplification of citizen services’ application forms of 206 services under Right to Service Act, 2011. He constituted three teams to complete the simplification and re-engineering of the application forms for the convenience of the citizens in next 4 weeks. He also directed the concerned officials to integrate the project with Aadhaar platform which will further reduce the documents requirement of various citizen services.570 / 2147 :  The agreement for 570 Sewa Kendras out of a total of 2147 Sewa Kendras has already been signed and the agreement for remaining Sewa Kendras shall be signed in next 1 week. Chief Secretary directed the Public Works Department to complete any pending civil, electrical or any other work in next 10 days. Various modalities to deliver the services through Sewa Kendras like online portal, requirement of computing infrastructure, application forms, requirement of physical presence of the citizen etc should be completed immediately.

Chief Secretary also reviewed State Data Center, Punjab Wide Area Network, e-Office, Human Resource Management System, Bharatnet etc. Chief Secretary directed all the project managers to adhere to the timelines and complete the project as per contract terms and conditions. Chief Secretary also reviewed Digitization of Land Records project and instructed the Department of Revenue to complete the project in next 3-4 months.Chief Secretary also directed that all the SDMs of the State should be trained on Standard Operating Procedures in 3 core e-Governance projects like e-District, Sewa Kendras and e-Office Project at divisional level workshop to be conducted under his chairmanship in next 15 days. The capacity building of the government officials will help in better implementation of the e-Governance projects.The meeting was attended by Mr. R K Verma, Secretary Governance Reforms, Mr  H S Kandhola, Director Governance Reforms, Mr Parveen Garg, Senior System Manager, Mr Sumeet Garg, System Manager, Mr. Kalwarn Singh, Senior System Manager, Mrs. Ravinder Kaur, Senior Systems Manager, Mr. Gagan Goyal, Assistant Manager, Mr. Ankit Agarwal, Senior Consultant State e-Governance Mission Team  and other Project Managers &  Project Coordinators of all the e-Governance projects of the State.
