Gun fights between militants and government forces raged in twin districts of North and South Kashmir on Tuesday. Government forces after receiving the inputs about the presence of militants in Jindyel village of Dardpora Kupwara launched a search operation. The militants reportedly fired some shots on search party that according to a Defense spokesperson were retaliated. Reports said that after a brief exchange of fire, no contact with militants was established. “The combing operation is going on to track down the militants,” an Army official told CNS.In South Kashmir’s Gadoora village of Pulwama district heavy exchange of fire took place between Indian Army and militants. 

The militants according to a police official are believed to be two in number trapped in the house of a local resident who he identified as Ali Muhammad hat.Eyewitness said that locals including the females from Karimabad and Pinglina hamlets rushed towards the encounter site and pelted stones on the government forces. The government forces retaliated with tear smoke shells. The clashes between locals and government forces amid gun fight left many cops and protesters wounded. The protesters believed that both the militants trapped in the house are the local militants from Karimabad village.The gun fight between the militants and the government forces was on when this report was being filed.
