District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Mr Ghulam Nabi Balwan convened a series of meetings to review the progress of various schemes of Horticulture, Agriculture and Forest departments in the conference hall of DC office, here today.Chief Planning Officer Kishtwar Dr. Yasir Balwan, Chief Agriculture Officer and other District officers attended the meeting.Seeking information about the quantum of plantations done by these departments in last two years and the survival rate of the plants, DDC said that survival of plants is vital to conserve the fragile ecosystem of the district. To ascertain the amount of plantation and survival rate at ground, he informed that a series of visits will be conducted in near future by him. He also exhorted upon all the district officers to proactively monitor the various schemes being implemented in their departments which is imperative to translate the vision of these schemes on ground.
In another meeting, he took review of tehsil-wise progress regarding updation of NPR. Tehsildars and other staff involved in the updation process were directed to complete the process in time bound manner besides they were directed to identify the areas where the coverage is extremely low for their targeted coverage. Meanwhile, DDC conducted surprise visits at the offices of District Social Welfare Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer and other offices in the district and physically checked the attendance of the employees.To ensure that the culture of punctuality is developed in the offices, he also directed district officers to conduct such surprise visits to their subordinate tehsil and block level offices.
