Hundreds of people participated in the funeral procession of a militant from Pakistan administered Kashmir who was killed in a gunfight in Lolab Valley of frontier district Kupwara on Friday night. Mourners amid pro-freedom slogans laid the slain militant to rest in a local grave yard at Jindiyal in Dardpora Kupwara.Police identified the slain militant as Abu Usman alias Zaraar. “He was a top Lashkar-e-Toiba militant who hails from Pakistan administered Kashmir,” a police official told CNS. To mourn the death of the militant locals in Lalpora and Dardpora observed a complete shutdown on Saturday. Pertinently, the militant was killed in Lohar Mohalla Lolab after government forces including 28 Rashtriya Rifles cordoned off the area to flush out the hiding militants. Reports said that the operation against the militants continued on Saturday as security agencies believe there are two to three more militants present in the area. “Search operation is going on to track down the militants,” said a police official.Meanwhile, Defense spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel NN Joshi told CNS that two more militants were killed in an encounter at the same places. “Security Forces gunned down two more militants on Saturday. Their identity has not been ascertained yet. It was a successful operation conducted by Indian Army in which three militants were killed,” he said. (CNS)
