In connection with “National Girls Day-2016” a function was held today at Gadigarh to felicitate the girl students of Jammu south who have secured top positions in class tenth and twelfth examination.The function was organized by the sub divisional administration under the “Beti Bachao –Beti Padhao” programme.Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was chief guest on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion Mr. Kavinder Gupta congratulated the meritorious students and asked them to work hard and achieve great success in life . He said women have a pivotal role in development of the country and they have proved their mettle in various fields including politics, education, defense and research etc.Speaker also asked parents to give special attention toward the education of girls and stressed on providing them encouragement and enabling environment to realise their potential .He also threw light on the flagship programme “Beti Bachao –Beti Padhao” initiated by central government and sought public cooperation in realising the envisaged goal of the programme.The girls who secured top position also spoke on the occasion and shared their experience.SDM Jammu South, probationary Officers, concerned Block Development Officers, Panchayati raj representatives, parents of the students and large number of people were present on the occasion.
