An orientation programme on "district need assessment was organised today by Unicef, in collaboration with the district administration under chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Bhat. The motive of this programme was to channelise all possible resources into implementing the child protection laws , for creating a strong protective environment for the children so that they can be protected from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation and to orient CDPO's, ZEO's, and NGO's involved in care of the children to come to the aid of the children under the distress in recent years. During the programme, DCPU were entrusted with the responsibility of assessing the number of children in difficult circumstances and creating district specific database to monitor the trends and patterns of children in different circumstances so as to frame accordingly the district child protection plan.
Meanwhile, he asked the field staff functionaries to fully cooperate in collecting the required data besides reminding them that it is also their social responsibility towards every child out there who need their help to wholeheartedly put every effort required at our level in preparing the database. The session concluded with discussion on the existing concern overs safety of children in different pockets of the district and the need for district action plan for enhancement of child protection in the district. The orientation programme was attended by CPO, Rajouri Hameed Choudhary, SDM Sunderbani, Kartar Singh, SDM, Kalakote B.K Panotra, SDM Thanamandi , SDM Kotranka, Sukhpal Singh , K.K Langer, Rajiv Khajuria besides others officers attended the programme.
