‘Failed’ student went missing from New Delhi

A Kashmiri student from Kunan Poshpora Kupwara has gone missing from New Delhi while the police said that the statement recorded by them from the family members reveal that Umar Taimur had left the room of his cousin in distress as he had cut a sorry figure in his matric examination. “We have been looking at the case through different angles. The missing youth was extremely disturbed when he was last seen by his cousin. He can’t survive on Rs 400 for seven days in a city like Delhi while the ban statements reveal that he has made no ATM transaction since January 11, the day he disappeared. We are seriously investigating the case and it will be premature to say anything at this point of time,” a police official from Doodhpur Civil Lines Police Station of Ali Garh Uttar Pradesh told CNS.

Umar Taimur a resident of Kunanpohpora Kupwara according to his father had joined Duty Society Coaching Institute located in Kabir Colony Jamal Pora in the vicinity of Ali Garh Muslim University. “His matric result was awaited and he was taking coaching for class 11th. He was putting up with his cousin at Ali Garh Muslim University hostel who has been pursuing PhD in History there,” his father said adding that he received the news about the missing incident on January 15 and rushed to New Delhi where he lodged a missing report in Doodhpur Civil Lines Police Station.His cousin who last saw him on January 11 said a day before on January 10 Board of School Examination had declared matric result and Taimur cut a sorry figure in the examination. “He was disturbed and distressed. He left his room at around 12 in the day on January 11 and since then we don’t know anything about him,” he said. (CNS)
