Minister for Public Works, Floriculture, Garden & Parks, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today visited the Dastgeer Sahab (RA) shrines at Khanyar and Sarai Bala to take stock of arrangements put in place for the annual Urs of Hazrat Gous-ul-Azam Dastgeer (RA).Mr Bukhari was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Director Floriculture, Commissioner SMC, Chief Engineer PDD, MD JKPCC, Vice Chairman SDA and other senior officers of the public works and health departments.During his visit to the shrine at Khanyar, the Minister while paying obeisance joined the special prayers for the good health of the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, besides praying for the well being and welfare of the people of the state.During the visit, Mr Bukhari directed MD JKPCC to go for immediate hardware work at the shrine so that the devotees do not face any inconvenience due to cold. The concerned officers were instructed to ensure uninterrupted power, water, transport, lighting and sanitation facilities in and around the shrine, so that devotees do not face any inconvenience.
Later, the Minister also visited the Dastageer Sahab shrine at Sarai Bala and reviewed the arrangements there. He also inspected the site demarcated for construction of the Community Hall for the locality. Mr Bukhari instructed the Vice Chairman Srinagar Development Authority to work in coordination with all the concerned departments especially the PDD so that the construction at the site is started immediately. The Minister assured every possible help from the government in this regard.He directed the Vice Chairman SDA and the concerned engineers to expedite construction work of the community hall, so that it is completed in stipulated time. Mr. Bukhari also inspected the Maharaja Bazaar market where he instructed the shopkeepers to avoid stalling their goods on roads. He asked the Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation to ensure there is no encroachment at Amirakadal and the pedestrians do not face any inconvenience in their movement across the bridge.The commissioner SMC was also directed to take effective measures for sanitation and disposal of solid waste in the area especially during the days of Urs.
