Underscoring the need for creating mass awareness about various welfare programmes launched by the Government, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said it is imperative for effective implementation of these schemes.The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function after after inaugurating 3-Day Public Information Campaign (JANSOOCHNA ABHIYAN) at Sunderbani organized by Press Information Bureau in coordination with Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity (DAVP), Song and Drama Division, Directorate of Field Publicity, All India Radio and District Administration Rajouri.Legislators, Mr Ravinder Raina, Mr. Vibodh Gupta, Mr Surinder Choudhary, Additional Director General PIB, Ms. Bharti Vaid, SSP Rajouri, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mr Mumtaz Choudhary, SDMs of Sunderbani and Nowshera and district officers of different departments were present.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the Government at both the Centre and State level has launched several new innovative schemes and the onus lies on the public representatives for creating awareness about these by organizing Public Information Campaigns so that these are implemented in letter and spirit.  He said the public participation is imperative for success of any scheme or welfare programme so that an effective feedback is obtained about the status of its implementation at the grassroots level.Maintaining that the concept of India is all about inclusiveness, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the history stands testimony to the fact that our nation has always been the epitome of tolerance which can be gauged from the fact that people from different parts of the globe came here, settled and made it their home. He said that certain forces are trying to create mistrust and confusion in the minds of people but their evil designs would not be allowed to succeed.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that India is at the threshold of history and we should also contribute our bit so that the efforts of our Prime Minister get a boost and India emerges as a global power. He said that even so many nations have recently recognized the prowess of our nation in every facet of life.Referring to the recent initiatives undertaken by the Government, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the National Food Security Act adopted by the State Cabinet would provide the rations to over 74 lakh people of the State at subsidized rate. “Our emphasis is to impart technical education to the youth and in this regard skill development initiatives would be initiated so that youth are properly trained and can easily earn their livelihood”, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister while referring to the Laadli Beti scheme said that it would go a long way in arresting the declining child sex ratio besides providing incentives to the girl child. He said several schemes have also been undertaken in the education sector including setting up of Cluster Universities, which would ensure transformation of educational scenario in the State by providing quality educational facilities to the students.Legislators also spoke on the occasion and highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the Government for the welfare of the people.ADG, PIB, Ms Bharti Vaid also spoke on the occasion and gave a brief overview of the importance of holding the awareness campaigns.Later, the Deputy Chief Minister also gave prizes to the students who had excelled in various competitions organized by the PIB and its sister organizations.Dr Singh also visited Shaheedi Sthal at Sunderbani and directed officers to ensure that it is preserved in a proper manner. He also inspected the Municipal Committee and directed the officers to ensure that the people get the requisite and necessary services which form its mandate.Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister laid foundation of a toilet complex in the Tehsil premises being constructed by the Municipal Committee with an estimated cost of Rs. 13.8 lakh.
