On the occasion of World Disability Day a programme was organised by the South Kashmir Handicapped Association at Dak Banglow Khanabal today.Deputy Chairman State Waqf Board Peer Muhammad Hussain, MLA Pahalgam, Muhammad Altaf Wani, MLC, Sofi Muhammad Yousuf, DIG South, ADDC Anantnag and other officers were present on the occasion.The Deputy Chairman Waqf Board on the occasion ensured enhancement of monthly remuneration and every possible help to the physically challenged people.MLC Sofi Muhammad Yousuf on the occasion announced Rs 2 lakh out of his CDF for the welfare of the physically challenged people and assured help for establishing a school for them . Department of Education also organized a programme at Government High school Khanabal to mark the world Disability Day .
ADC Anantnag Muhammad Younis Malik who was the Chief Guest on the occasion stressed upon the society to encourage the persons with disabilities by way of providing them guidance and assistance . He also said that government and public should join hands to provide a level playing field for differently abled people.The CEO and DEPO Anantnag on the occasion informed that the department organized five-day workshops on curriculum activities, sign language, distribution camp on aids and appliances, for assessment of differently abled children
