Lal Singh, Priya inaugurate Health Mela at Rajinder Bazar

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Choudhary Lal Singh and Minister of State for Information, Culture and Education, Priya Sethi today inaugurated Health Mela at Rajinder Bazar here. The mela is being organized by the Indian System of Medicines (ISM).Director General ISM, Dr Abdul Kabir Dar besides other senior officers of ISM were present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Lal Singh appreciated the efforts of the ISM for organizing such health melas for people. He said the objective of organizing these health melas is to provide better healthcare facilities to the people at their doorstep. He said the Government is deputing good doctors with latest diagnostic facilities at these melas to examine the patients and provide them necessary treatment. He called for close coordination between Health Department and field functionaries to extend adequate healthcare facilities to the people especially living in remote and far-flung areas.

The Minister said that health sector is the top priority of the State as well as the Central Governments as a result of which health services in the J&K have improved manifold. He said main thrust of the Government is to provide improved healthcare facilities to the people of the State adding that 98% of the patient care/treatment is provided by the Government-run health institutions across the State.Choudhary Lal Singh inspected the facilities at the Mela and interacted with the doctors, paramedics and patients. He asked people to avail benefits of such health melas.Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Information, Culture and Education, Mrs. Priya Sethi said the Government is making all out efforts to provide all infrastructural facilities to the people across the State like road connectivity, education, healthcare, safe drinking water, uninterrupted power supply.She said the package of Rs 80,000 crore announced by the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi would help develop every nook and corner of the State on modern lines with adequate basic amenities.Earlier, Choudhary Lal Singh and Mrs Priya Sethi also inspected stalls arranged by the ISM department at the Health Mela.
