This Shiromani Akali Dal US unit has urged Government of India and Punjab Government to recognize Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh as National Hero and get his Darbar record translated in Punjabi and English Languages. It has also urged urged S Sukhbir Singh Badal to take up the matter of Visas and Passports for Political Asylum seekers in The USA with the Government of India.In a statement released from the party head office here today, it was disclosed that in first ever meetings held under the Chairmanship Jaspreet Singh Attorney in Newyork and chicago, the High Power Core Committee adopted a resolution to this effect and urged both the government that Mahara Ranjit Singh was a real national hero and he should be recognized accordingly. Meeting also urged that Darbar Record which is in Persian Language and is in possession of descendants of Faqir Azzizudin who as a minister in Maharaja’s cabinet, be translated into Punjabi and English Language.
All the High Powered Core Committee members and other Leaders of East Coast Zone and Mid West Coast Zone participated in the meeting which deliberated upon the problems being faced by Punjabi community in the country and urged S Sukhbir Singh Badal to take up the matter of Visas and Passports for Political Asylum Seekers in The USA with the Government of India. It also demanded amendments in revenue laws of Punjab to facilitate the resolution of land disputes and division of land etc.Attorney disclosed that several important resolutions were passed in the meeting. He said that meeting also decided to open three offices in USA and establish its units in all the remaining states and cities in the country.Mr. Attorney further disclosed that party has proposed to open up offices in East, West and Midwest zones and work with other organizations in USA in connection with Sikh Identity Issues. He said that we will work towards educating the Americans about Sikh Religion and Sikhs so that the Sikhs no longer become victims of Mistaken Identity and Hate Crimes. Committee also urged party high command to establish youth wing in the country at the earliest.
