Minister for Urban Development, Nawang Rigzin Jora today laid foundation of Vegetable Market at Muthi.The Vegetable market would be developed on 7 kanals of land with all modern facilities at a cost of Rs. 1.34crore and is targeted to be completed by March next year.Secretary, Housing and & Urban Development, Satesh Nehru, VC, JDA, K.L. Khajuria, Superintending Engineer, JDA, P.L. Bushan besides officers from JMC and other concerned Departments were present on the occasion.Interacting with the officers, the Minister exhorted upon them to ensure that project is completed at per schedule. He said on one hand it will provide safe marketing place to the vegetable vendors thereby generating recurring income to JDA.The Minister also visited Building Centre, Muthi and took stock of the working of Tile and Solid Block Manufacturing Unit. The Minister asked concerned authority to introduce innovative technology available in the market, adding that it will not only save the time but also increase production.

Asking for replacement of existing manual system with new innovative technology, Jora said that low cast and environment friendly technologies are available in the market. He directed officer concerned to visit Centre for Development of Alternatives, New Delhi and see what new technologies have been introduced in this sector.The Minister said that the mud brick concept has been introduced across the country aimed to reduce the cost of material and built a structure which can be viable for both cold and warm environments. He said the biggest advantage of usage of mud brick is that it keeps rooms warm in winter and cool in summer.  He asked Secretary HUD to explore the possibility for giving marketing facility to Building Centre while the officers of JDA were asked to purchase the material from them. He asked concerned to launch publicity campaign of the Unit to make aware people about the products manufactured in the Unit

Later, the Minister visited the proposed site spread over 500 kanals, for development of housing colony at Kot Balwal. He instructed the concerned authorities to remove the land encroachments and asked JDA to come up with a detailed project report for construction of a spacious housing colony.
