Punjab Government would launch a project worth Rs. 90 in the four districts of the state. Under this project Punjab Government would plant 60 lac saplings in 3 thousand hectare area of the malwa belt. Disclosing this here today Mr. Chunni Lal Bhagat Forest & Wild Life preservation Minister, Punjab said that this would not only give relief from water logging but also benefit financially. Minister said that Punjab Government is working on various projects to eliminate water logging in the state. He said that under Greening Punjab Mission project eucalyptus would be planted in three thousand hectare area of the districts Sri Muktsar Sahib, Bathinda, Faridkot and Fazilka to eliminate water logging.He said that intake of water by eucalyptus plants is more which is suitable plant in water logged areas and eucalyptus grows very fast in such areas due to availability of water.  Minister said that this project would be launched from Sri Muktsar Sahib as this district is most affected by water logging. He added that after launching this project in Sri Muktsar sahib other districts would also be covered and 2 thousand saplings would be planted per hectare.
