Terming the calling off of talks between India and Pakistan as unfortunate, Hurriyat (M) Sunday said that the way forwards towards resolution of issues between the two countries including the core issue of Kashmir is through dialogue and deliberations.Blaming Indian intransigence as the main reason for the calling off of talks between the two nations, APHC stated that the conditions put forward by the Government of India with respect to the holding of talks were so absurd and unrealistic that it seems that they were deliberately made to find an escape route from the dialogue.
Hurriyat (M) strongly reiterated that the Kashmir issue is not a territorial or border issue between India and Pakistan but the basic human issue of the future political dispensation of more than fifteen million people living in the region in uncertainity and under the shadow of gun. This issue can either be resolved through the UN resolutions passed over it or alternately through talks between India Pakistan and the main stakeholders the people of Jammu and Kashmir. APHC regrets the Government of India unreasonable posturing with regard to the issue and wants to remind it that such tactics will not deter the people of J&k from pursuing their just cause.
The conglomerate appreciated the Government of Pakistans steadfastness in sticking to its principled stand with regard to the Kashmir issue. The conglomerate stated that Pakistan has always lend political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmir cause. APHC Chairman, in this regard called up the Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi, Abdul Basit, and hailed Pakistans stand on the issue.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat spokesman has strongly condemned the arrest of senior Hurriyat leader, Bilal Gani Lone in New Delhi in connection with Hurriyats meeting with the Pakistan NSA. He termed the house arrest of Lone as an extreme step by the Indian establishment which was a clear violation of basic fundamental and democratic rights. The spokesman also condemned the house arrest of senior pro freedom leader Shabir Ahmad Shah in Delhi.
The spokesman also strongly condemned the use of brute force on people outside the residence of senior pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani to prevent them from attending a rally. The spokesman said that all claims of upholding democratic values by the so called elected champions of democracy stand exposed time and again and are a grim reminder of the fact that J&K is a police state.
