First ever People’s Assembly, Jammu Pradesh condemns terrorism demands statehood for Jammu Pradesh

First ever People’s Assembly of Jammu Pradesh was held at Jammu Club Jammu this day  where representatives of several political parties and civil society participated including lawyers, media persons, intellectuals participated which made a pledge to uphold sovereignty, unity and integrity of India vis-a-via J&K besides continuing battle against all forms of injustice, discrimination and militancy.Assembly was convened by Prof. Bhim Singh Chief Patron NPP.  Shri Dharam Pal Sharma Ex-MP, Former State Minister and a veteran Congress leader in the State chair the Assembly as one of the best parliamentarian in the state.  Shri Dharmapal Sharma congratulated to Prof. Bhim Singh for holding such  an Assembly which he said is the need of today to ensure the delivery of justice to all regions of the state.  Shri Mohan Singh a noted Dogri poet and President of Duggar Pradesh Party who conducted the proceedings welcome such Assemblies of the civil society where politicians and social activists could express their views without any hesitation. Prof. Bhim Singh in his introduction speech presented, ‘what he call the Magna-Carta of Jammu Pradesh with 24 point agenda which include reorganization of the state, amendment in article 370, eradication of article 35-A from the Indian Constitution, holding delimitation of the Assembly constituencies in J&K, comprehensive settlement with restoration of civil rights to all 15 lacs PaK and PoK refugees languishing in the street of Jammu for the past 67 years or so and removal of all forms of discrimination with the people of Jammu Pradesh.  His 24 point Magna-Carta was welcome by the august audience    which sought statehood for Jammu Pradesh to end kind of colonial rule in the state.

The important persons who addressed the meeting included General Jagdish Singh Jamwal (Retd.), General B.N Dhar (Retd.), Veteran Congress leader  and Former Minister presently President of Dogra Sadar Sabha Shri Gulchain Singh Charak, Shri Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP, Former Education Minister and the best parliamentarian awardee, Prof. Hari Om a senior BJP leaders and Former head of History department in Jammu University, Shri Balwant Singh Mankotia State President JKNPP, Shri Yashpal Kundal State President Young Panthers JKNPP, Shri P.K Ganju Vice-President JKNPP, Anita Thakur & H.C Jalmeria adv General Secretaries, Syed Qazmi advocate, Shri Udey Chand Chairman Duggar Pradesh Party, Shri Ashfaq Rana, Sarpanch and General Secretary of Panchayat Empowerment Committee in J&K, Dr. P.S Pathania Former Registrar Central University of Jammu, Jagdev Singh Coordination Secretary JKNPP,  S. Paramjit Singh Marshal State President PTU, H.C Katoch , Manju Singh member working committee JKNPP, Kousar Parveen and Kesar Parveen advocate Secretaries Women Power JKNPP and others.  All the district Presidents of JKNPP and senior office bearers who were present including Shri Sewa Singh (Ramban), Shri Balwan Singh (Reasi), Gulam Mustfa Wani ( Rajouri), Ajay Singh (Kathua), Shri Shiv Charan Singh (Samba) and Provincial President Shri Rajesh Pargotra, Sham Gorkha Vice-President PTU and Principal Khajur Singh.   POK refugees’s Convenor S. Gurcharan Singh originally from Muzaffrabad also participated. Young Panthers leaders also participated including its Vice-President Shri Pushvinder Singh Manhas, Vilakshan Singh advocate, Gagan Pratap Singh and Pawan Dev Singh (General )

The consensus of the People’s Assembly of Jammu Pradesh  expressed total commitment to the cause of the people of Jammu Pradesh and appreciations for the leadership of the Panthers Party in keeping the battle for the cause of Jammu Pradesh alive and continuing. There was total disappointment about the performance of the BJP-PDP government as the Assembly felt the government had failed on all fronts   and has no right to continue in par. Prof. Bhim Singh the Convenor of this Assembly declare that such civil assemblies shall be organized at every district level in the state which shall record the sufferings and woos of the people and carry the battle for justice and equity from the streets to the Supreme Court.
