Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq today said that Rural Development Department has pivotal role in the development of rural areas and stressed for effective implementation of MGNREGA.The Minister stated this after inaugurating maiden one day workshop on MGNREGA convergence at Anantnag, organized by Rural Development Department.Among others the workshop was attended by Director Rural Development Department, Tasaduq Jeelani, Deputy Commissioners Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian, Additional Secretary RDD and other district officers.The Minister, while speaking on the occasion highlighted aims, objectives and implementation besides convergence of MGNREGA with other departments.
He said the Department has already initiated the process of development and upgradation of infrastructure like panchayat ghars, common facilitations centers etc in rural areas. Referring to the concept of Model Villages, the Minister said that its main objective is to provide infrastructural facilities and basic public amenities to the people.The Minister said that, he hoped that launch of “My Village My World” campaign in rural areas will give a new look to the villages and will provide hygienic and pollution free atmosphere to the people living in rural areas. Earlier, Additional Secretary Rural Development Department and Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag deliberated on the concept of convergence of “MGNREGA” with other line departments through power point presentations.
