Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today directed Director CA&PD Kashmir to put in place an efficient supply chain to ensure advance lifting, stocking and dumping of essentials in Ladakh area keeping in view of difficult topography of the region.He also instructed the Deputy Commissioners of Leh and Kargil to identify suitable location for establishing petrol pumps in the desert districts to cater to the local demand for fuel. He sought comprehensive report in this regard so that the same can be placed before the Union Ministry of Petroleum at the earliest for follow up action.

 Speaking at a high level meeting convened to review the progress of dispatch and stocking of essential commodities in Ladakh region, the Minister said since the area remains landlocked for about six months during winter, extra efforts are required for making adequate stocking of essentials in advance.Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali, legislators from the region besides Chief Executive Councilor Kargil, Executive Councilor (CA&PD) LAHDC Leh and Kargil were also present in the meeting.

Zulfkar asked Deputy Director CA&PD incharge Ladakh Supplies to monitor timely lifting and dispatch of essentials to Ladakh region in person and ensure that there is no compromise on the quality of essentials being dispatched to the area. He warned the concerned of serious consequences of any laxity in this regard.The Minister urged the concerned authorities to work in tandem to evolve a foolproof mechanism for supply and stocking of essentials to this mountainous region which deserves focused attention on all fronts. Expressing concern over the location of LPG bottling plant in the heart of the Leh city, the Minister directed the representatives of concerned oil companies to shift the plant away from human habitation to avoid any catastrophe.Secretary CA&PD, Deputy Commissioner Leh, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Director Tribal Affairs and other senior officers attended the meeting.
