Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal today inaugurated a five day first aid training programme for the field functionaries of Rural Development Department at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu .The training programme has been organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu under the aegis of St. John Ambulance Association.Director, Rural Development Department, Jammu Mr M.L.Raina presided over the function and Dr. A. D. Singh, was the main resource person from Health Department.Divisional Commissioner while addressing the trainees appreciated the efforts of Red Cross and Rural Development Department for organizing the programme and stressed upon the participants to take part in the training with zeal & zest. He said the field functionaries   can play an important role to provide first aid to the affected people during natural calamities/disaster or border firing etc. He also shared his personal experiences as a Doctor on first aid and its importance in remote areas and during emergency situations.

The programme aims to impart training on first aid principles, first aid kit demonstration & its maintenance, unconsciousness/ shock/ cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid in emergencies Burns/ Bleeding/ Injuries/ fractures/ Dressing /Bandaging, safe handling and transportation of patients in any emergency.Dr. Rohini Bhan of Red Cross Dispensary and Dr. M.L. Sharma (Retd) will impart training to the participants.R.C.Puri, Hony. Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu presented  the welcome address and also threw light on the importance  of first aid training  besides Red Cross activities. He also stressed upon the participants to come forward & strengthen social institutions like the Red Cross Movement by volunteering their services for the humanitarian cause.Vote of thanks was presented by Dinesh Gupta, Executive Committee Member of Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu.
