The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar has asked the power authorities to ensure that the consumers do not face any unscheduled cuts besides ensuring its adequate availability.The Minister was addressing officers during a high level meeting convened to discuss the status of various ongoing developmental works undertaken and to review the availability of essentials during the winter months.Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Chief Engineer PDD Kashmir, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Chief Town Planner, Superintending Engineer R&B and other senior officers of various departments including UEED, PHE, SMC etc. were present.While directing the Chief Engineer Power, the Minister asked him to ensure that adequate supply of electricity is ensured so that the people do not face any inconvenience especially during the winter months. He said that the supply should be rationalized in such a way so that the consumers do not face any unscheduled cuts and the damaged transformers should be repaired within the shortest possible time. ‘’Necessary mechanism should be put in place in order to get the requisite feedback from the consumers about the difficulties, if any being faced by them’’, he added.

Mr. Sagar also directed the officers to ensure that the reconstruction work on the revered Shrine of Dastigeer Sahib is completed as early as possible so that it can be dedicated to the devotees on the annual Urs days. He said that the necessary care should be taken so that it is completed within the already approved plan which is in consonance with the earlier structural and architectural pattern. The Minister also asked for the early completion of the new Zaina Kadal bridge and speeding up the pace of work on the prestigious Syed Meerak Shah road. He said that the work on the shopping complex being constructed at Rainawari Hospital should be expedited so that it can be allotted to the persons whose shops would be acquired for the widening of the road of this road project. “The compensation cases of the persons whose structures are being acquired for this project and other developmental projects undertaken by the Government in old city Srinagar should be settled as early as possible so that they do not face any inconvenience for this purpose HLC meetings should be held at regular intervals”, he maintained.

The work on the Sukhalipora-Nallahmar link road cut should be completed as early as possible for the convenience of the people of the area, the Minister said and maintained that the work on the renovation and repairs of Khankah-i-Moulla should also be expedited on fast track basis.Later, the Minister inaugurated a State-of-Art fountain at the Shrine of Bulbul Shah Sahib (RA) in the old city Srinagar constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 8.20 lakh by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.The Minister directed the officers of SMC to undertake the further beautification of the Shrine and its catchment areas for the convenience of the people and the devotees coming to pay obeisance there. He said that the Government is committed for ensuring the development and beautification of the old city Srinagar and in this regard several developmental initiatives have been undertaken.
