Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani is continuously under house arrest from last four months and today on August 7 he was once again stopped from offering the Friday congregational prayers, spokesman of the conglomerate Ayaz Akbar said in a statement to KNS.While terming the government action as clear violation of the law and constitution, Hurriyat (G) spokesman appealed the Amnesty International and other human rights organization to take serious notice of holding of pro-freedom leader hostage “on gun point and use their influence in his release.”

“Since the valley return of Geelani Sahab from New Delhi on 15 April, he was today 16th time forcibly stopped from performing the important religious obligation and during this entire period he only once succeeded in offering the congregational prayers. The authorities today deployed more police force around the residence of Geelani Sahab. A senior police officer was also deployed here from the early morning. While strongly condemning the continuous house detention of Geelani Sahab,” he said.“Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had surrendered very before the start of the battle of ideologies and he had practically accepted the defeat and he can’t face the pro-freedom leadership particularly the Syed Ali Geelani on the political turf. However, the government can imprison Geelani Sahab but containing his ideology and ideas is not possible for anyone. Geelani Sahab represents the sentiments and aspirations of the majority of Kashmiri people and his ideology is widely accepted in the state and there are millions of Geelanies now in Kashmir who will never accept the sovereignty of India,” Akbar added.
