Chandigarh , 20 Nov 2013

While addressing  Nirankari volunteers at Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan Sec. 30-A ,  it was informed by Shri Mohinder Singh Ji , Sanyojak  , Sant Nirankari Mandal Chandigarh  said that  Fifty-five couples tied their nuptial knot at a mass marriage ceremony organized by the Social Welfare Department of the Sant Nirankari Mission Delhi.  The mass marriages were organized in a simple ceremony held at Samagam Ground, Burari Road, ahead of the 66th Annual Nirankari Sant Samagam scheduled to be held on November 23, 24 and 25, 2013.  While His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj and Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji blessed the couples, thousands of devotees including the parents, friends and relatives of the brides and bridegrooms, attended the ceremony.

They further said that among the bridegrooms,  27 belonged to Delhi, 7 to Uttar Pradesh, 6 to Haryana, 4 to Punjab, 2 each to Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand and one each came from Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Chandigarh.Among brides, 17 came from Delhi, 9 from Uttar Pradesh, 8 from Haryana, 5 from Punjab, 3 each from Maharashtra and Uttarakhand, 2 each from Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and one each from Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Chandigarh.  One bridegroom came from Dubai and one bride belonged to UK. The Mass Marriages were marked by 19Inter-state and 2 Inter-country weddings.  Four brides – threefrom Delhi and one from HIssar in Haryana, found in-laws in their own colonies.  One family from Delhi married their son to a bride from Chhattisgarh while the bridegroom for their daughter came from Dubai. The simple ceremony was marked by the traditional Jaymala followed by a Common Garland for each couple – a special feature of a Nirankari wedding.  Four sacred hymns (Lawan) were recited by singers with full spirit of devotion.  Simultaneously, His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj and Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji showered the flower-petals from the dais.  The devotees also joined them in showering the flowers.

Blessing the couples, His Holiness said: “This is a happy occasion when two families are becoming one and the bride and the bridegroom are stepping into what we call household life.  As a matter of fact, those who perform their social and household responsibilities while marching on the path of devotion make their life realistic and truthful. Those who opt for mass marriages enjoy the blessings of Sadh Sangat (fellow-devotees) which is a great advantage as compared to a single wedding ceremony.  We celebrated the International Day of Tolerance today and organized a rally of scooter and motor cycle riders.  This virtue of tolerance holds a great significance in our families also as it keeps the atmosphere at home pleasant with love, humility and sweet language.  And these virtues are not a requirement of newly weds only but others in the family too.  This helps each other to perform their responsibilities smoothly.

In today’s ceremony, we have families not only from Delhi, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Karnataka and Maharashtra, but from UK and Dubai also.  This is an example for others to follow.  May God bless the newly wed couples so that they understand and cooperate with each other not only in their social life but spiritual aspect also.  Let them enjoy all that makes life happy and prosperous and remain committed to the company of saints, selfless service and remembrance of God simultaneously.”
