College of Education Srinagar organizes capacity building programme for teachers

A two-day capacity building programme for government teachers of Srinagar zone was organized at the College of Education here on August 3 and 4.Thirty five teachers participated in the programme which was aimed at motivating them to adopt appropriate methods and techniques in teaching science and social sciences in government schools.The resource persons dwelt in detail on various aspects of teaching science and social sciences.Prof Manzoor Wazir, former Professor, Government College of Education, Srinagar, spoke about “Objectives and Methods of Teaching of Science”.Dr. Seemin Rubab, Associate Professor, NIT, Srinagar focused on “Developing of Hands on Science Culture in Schools”. She emphasized that methods involving the teaching of science should be interactive, fun to watch and interesting.

Prof Mohammad Aslam Baba, Principal, Islamia College of Science & Commerce dealt with “Teaching & Learning of Science” adopting the interactive strategies.Prof L S Sodhi, Associate Professor, Department of History gave a presentation on “Teaching of Social Science” wherein he explained in detail the pedagogy of teaching social sciences with special reference to both the child and teacher.Prof Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Associate Professor, Government College of Education, Srinagar spoke on “Teacher Competencies with special reference to Secondary Teachers”.Prof Basharat Ahmad gave a lecture on “Pedagogy of Bio-science”. Adil Amin, Lecturer Chemistry, M P Model School spoke about content enrichment relating to science with appropriate methodology to be used.In the last session Dr Kowser Majid, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, NIT, Srinagar deliberated on the topic “Ways & Importance of Teaching Science”.
