Two soldiers killed, two others injured as army units clashes in Tral

In a rare incident of its kinds, two soldiers were killed and two others sustained bullet injuries after personnel of two sub units of Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles clashed with each other, suspecting each other as militants, in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday evening.Official sources said that a unit of 42 Rashtriya Riffles had laid an ambush near an orchard at Noorpora following intelligence input that a group led by Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Burhan was to move through the area.  Burhan group had recently released a video on internet, showing them wearing army uniform, training inside forest area in south Kashmir.   

Sources said that as a separate sub-unit of the 42 RR passed through the area, the one which had laid the ambush fired indiscriminately, resulting in the killing of two soldiers and injuries to two other personnel who have been hospitalized.Sources identified the deceased as NK Mohan Boro and Sepoy Lal Chanhlima Ghatak.DIG Nitish Kumar confirmed to GNS that two army parties accidentally fired at each other assuming each other to be militants. He said while two soldiers died before being admitted to hospital, two others are being treated.Meanwhile, army’s Srinagar based defence ministry official, Colonel Manish told GNS; “Incident case of miataken identity between 2 night domination patrols in general area Nurpura, Tral”.He said that unfortunately two soldiers lost their life in the incident and further details is being ascertained.
